We are currently living through times of uncertainty, panic and disruption to our daily lives. I think I can speak for most of us and say, this is very unexpected and has escalated very quickly. However, this isn't a blog post to dwell on the negatives, I'm here to help you maintain a good mental health and keep spirits high!

Self-care is important, now more than ever. It may be more difficult to do activities that you've previously loved but that doesn't have to stop you from being creative in what you do!

1. Routine.
Now some people thrive upon having a routine and some don't. So you have to do what you think is best for you. We're spending more time at home, so to beat boredom maybe try to mix up your routine! If you do certain things at certain times during the day, try mix it up another day e.g. monday - exercise in the morning, tuesday - exercise in the afternoon, weds - exercise in the evening, thurs - exercise in the afternoon and you get the jist of it!

2. Clear mind, Happy heart.
I'm sure this will be a problem for most people at this time but clearing your mind can do wonders for your wellbeing. We are constantly being bombarded by news, either on the tv, social media, other people. It can be very difficult to think about other things whilst this is going on. Some things you can try out that might work (I will also be trying it out!) ...

- If the news is getting too much for you, watch tv shows or movies. You don't have to constantly have the news on, if it's impacting your mental health. Keep it to a minimum, I would say maybe watch an update once during the day. Not in the morning or just before bed (because then it may be harder for you to go to sleep)

- Similar to the previous point, keep social media to a minimum. Try not going on it for a few hours during the day, then slowly start extending it to the whole day of not going on social media. There is A LOT of information on twitter, instagram, facebook etc all about what is going on in the news and it can get too much. Go through your following list and unfollow people/pages that don't make you feel good.

- Write. Writing all your thoughts and feelings down can also help you calm your mind and also sort out the thoughts you have. You don't have to do it for long, maybe just 10 mins during the day (I wouldn't advise doing this just before bed because again, it may be harder for you to get to sleep because you might start overthinking certain things)

3. Music is good for the soul. Make your own happy playlist, full of your favourite, upbeat songs. Have a daily 10 min dance party. On your own. With your family. With whoever you're social distancing/self-isolating with! It's good to stay active and have fun whilst doing it!

4. Keep up with your hobbies. Whatever it is you enjoy doing (that you can do at home), keep doing! Read that book you keep saying you're gonna read. Do a spring clean. Learning an instrument? watch youtube videos!

5. Talk. Again, now more than ever it is SO SO important to talk, especially if you're not feeling so good. Facetime your best friend for a quick catch up. Talk to your family. As alot of us are at home, with family, there's bound to be arguments and people getting on each others nerves so it's always good to take some time for yourself during the day. Remember, everyone is feeling worried and uncertain so just stay calm, be kind.

I am pretty sure there is plenty of things you can do to help with your mental health and I could be writing this post for days but I just wanted to mention some things I thought would be important.

Be kind. Think of others. Stay hopeful.
